When quirky, artsy Amaryllis meets a handsome stranger on university campus, her solitary and mundane life is turned upside down. Things are not what they seem. Her parents disappear and the strange but alluring man reveals he is an Archfae. She follows him into Faerie in search of her missing parents and soon realizes that she’s not who she thought she was either.
As Amaryllis’s journey unfolds in the Faerie realm, she encounters various magical beings—from Sirens and Pixies to Brownies and Nymphs—and discovers her powers as a fae changeling. Amaryllis must disguise herself and adapt, but she also makes new friends, fights various enemies, uncovers her family history, and falls in love with an Archfae … or two.
Romantasy fans will connect with Amaryllis’s spunky character as she faces trials and tribulations, tests her magic, learns who she really is, and embraces friendship, trust, and joy. Painting Flowers and Fantasies is an otherworldly coming-of-age adventure in which a young woman grows out of her previously sheltered and isolated existence to take risks and transform into the powerful hero of her own story. Alex Neve
Alex Neve started writing short stories as a child and has been reading YA books since she was a teenager. She has a BA in English Literature and studied languages and linguistics, mythology—especially Celtic, Norse, and Egyptian folklore and legends—and creative writing. She’s used this knowledge to build her own fantastical world in Painting Flowers and Fantasies, her first book. She’s currently writing the next edition of The Lost Changeling series.
When not writing, Neve works as a bookseller at Canada’s largest book retailer, Indigo, where she’s also immersed in stories. When she’s not speed reading through two books a day, she’s gaming, dancing, scrapbooking, and playing chess. She lives in Montréal, Québec, with her very shy husband and two cats with separation anxiety.
